Love Yourself Well Labyrinth

I created the Love Yourself Well Labyrinth, a feminine-based wellness assessment that speaks directly to your experience of being female.

The labyrinth is an ancient metaphor for what is sacred in our lives.

“Through its twists and turns, its ancient spaciousness holds everything we experience — our minds and emotions, our physical beings and our spirits, our losses and gains, our successes and failures, our joys and sorrows. When we walk the path inward, we carry our burdens with us. When we meditate or pray in the center, we ask for grace, forgiveness, and understanding. When we walk the path outward, we are lighter, more joyful, and ready again to take on our life’s challenges.  ~ Alex Pattakos

A labyrinth is not a maze or puzzle to be solved but is instead a path of meaning to be experienced. Different than a maze whose point is to find the center, the point of a labyrinth is to find your center. There are no roadblocks or tricky turns but instead the path flows continuously, spiraling and meandering as it goes without a direct line from one point to the next. Similarly, the path through the Love Yourself Well Labyrinth is envisioned as a way to help you spiral to the center of your life and then back out again, giving you a layered way to digest what you discover within in order to create space for new ideas and insights to emerge.

Similar to traditional labyrinths, The Love Yourself Well Labyrinth has seven circuits or components for you to wander through. Each one was chosen as a topic deeply rooted in the specific experience of begin a woman and are not meant to be experienced in a particular order.

The circuits are:

  • Body Image – how a woman see herself when she look in the mirror or when she pictures herself in her mind.
  • Boundaries – the personal limits that she surround herself with to identify the reasonable, safe, and permissible ways for others to behave towards her and how she will respond when someone moves past those limits.
  • Economic Autonomy – the sense of her capacity to generate income and personal financial resources.
  • Resiliency – her capacity to recover quickly from difficulties.
  • Self-Care – the care provided “for her, by her.” It’s about identifying one’s own needs and taking steps to meet them. It is taking the time to do some of the activities that nurture her.
  • Self-Esteem – her confidence in her own worth and abilities.
  • Sexuality – the way she experience and express herself sexually. This involves biological, erotic, physical, emotional, social, or spiritual feelings and behaviors.

I created this self-assessment to help a woman’s figure out her level of satisfaction and range of expression in each of the seven circuits. You can use this tool to determine areas where you are thriving as well as those that may need your attention. As you go through the assessment you will find areas where you want to acknowledge yourself for the success that you have created. There will also see areas where you want to improve your level of satisfaction.
