About + Contact

Hi and welcome! I’m Valerie.

Here’s what you should know about me…

I want you to feel comfortable in your skin.

I want you to enjoy your body and treat it with kindness.

I want you to love yourself well, and embrace all that’s possible for your life.
And ultimately, one day, I want you to look into your bathroom mirror and say, “Lookin’ good, cutie” or “Hi, beautiful” or “Damn, you’re so strong and powerful” and actually mean it.

I want all of those things for you, and for every woman… and that’s why I do the work that I do.

Back in 2010, I started Her Holistic Health, a lifestyle and wellness coaching practice. Since opening my practice, I’ve had the privilege of working hundreds of client hours. I’ve witnessed women go from stressed, exhausted, depleted, sedentary, full of cruel, self-critical thoughts—and shift into a completely new way of life. A life filled with more movement, more energy, more confidence, new habits, new passions and curiosities, even new friendships and relationships.

I love witnessing this kind of transformation, and it’s the same journey that I’ve been on, myself. I know from personal experience that it’s never too soon—or too late—to start taking better care of yourself, start treating yourself with kindness, and start loving yourself. For real.

My credentials

  • Masters Degree in Integrative Health Studies from the California Institute for Integral Studies.
  • Certified through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition®.
  • Trained at the Interchange Counseling Institute.
  • Lead coach at the Courageous Living Coach Certification program.
  • Hundreds of hours working 1-on-1 with clients, leading workshops and giving talks, writing, researching, and delving deeply into women’s health, wellness, and empowerment topics.

My (other) credentials

Prior to becoming a certified holistic health coach…

  • I worked as a teacher at a gifted and talented elementary school, where I learned how to express complex ideas in a simple, fun way.
  • I worked as a finance and operations manager, where I learned how to create time for my demanding career and create time for my own mental and physical health. Not always an easy balancing act, but it can be done!
  • I worked as a pole dance instructor, which is a fact that surprises most people! It was a beautiful way to reconnect with my body, my femininity, and sensuality, and help women feel like total goddesses—often, for the first time in their entire lives.

A few other things

  • I’m a big believer in the power of simple habits and simple questions, like, “Am I actually hungry right now?” and “What would feel energizing right now?” When I take a moment to ask, my body always has a clear answer.
  • I love catching myself in the midst of a negative thought (like “I could absolutely never do that”) and then asking myself, “But is that really true? What if I could?”
  • I’ve got three stuffed animal dogs that I’ve had for years. I love posing them for photographs as if they’re real pets. This makes me and my sweetheart crack up! I love this silly ritual because it reminds me that life doesn’t always have to be so serious. We can do deep work, and heal, and grow… and also take photos of stuffed dogs posing in hotel windows.

So, that’s me.

Now that you’ve got the low-down on who I am, you can check out some of my favorite blog posts over in the sidebar, sign up for my e-letter or simply reach out for the support that you know that you need and absolutely deserve. I always love hearing from new—and returning—clients, so reach out anytime to set up a coaching session.

In love and good health,
